Subject: (news) Chalion on Audiocasette
Date: Mon, 19 Jul 2004

Hi all --

My agent just forwarded my author's copy of the new, unabridged Blackstone Audiobooks edition of The Curse of Chalion, read by Lloyd James. 19 hours, 13 ninety-minute cassettes!

I've sampled the first chapter -- I quite like the way this guy reads.

Cover is unexceptionable, castle in a dark landscape, a crow flying in the foreground.

Not cheap, but that happens with unabridged: listed at $85.95. Probably good to bring it to the attention of one's libraries.

Checking the website...

The library edition of The Curse of Chalion is also available on CD

www.blackstoneaudio.com/audiobook.cfm?ID=3264

for all the particulars. Alas, they do not seem to have the more reasonably-priced retail editions available; don't know why not.

They also have an audio sample available; a snippet from Chapter One.

Subject: (news) Spirit Ring on Japanese Radio in August
Date: Sat, 10 Jul 2004

One of my fans in Japan turned up this news: "From Leon's Armor Shop (and confirmed by a link to nhk.or.jp/audio/prog-se-future.html): "Spirit Ring" will be broadcast on NHK-FM's Young Adventure (seishun adobencha) program in August. The time is from 22:45 to 23:00 during the following weekdays: August 2nd through 6th (series 1-5) August 9th through 13th (series 6-10) August 16th through 20th (series 11-15) I'm glad I looked again today . . . I didn't know it was coming up this soon! ..."

(how goes the publishing process with Hallowed Hunt?)

Still waiting for G/o/d/o/t my editor to get back to me with revision requests. Have four more movies rented to watch, the usual pile of variously-unattractive to-be-read items stacked up (if they were attractive, they'd have been read already), a friend's script I've promised to read and comment upon, and an indefinitely expandable list of life-maintenance chores to do.

Instead, I am going to take a walk and then go sit on my deck, if the mosquitoes permit. They are ferocious here, due to the damp spring.

When my editor does return the serve, all will be ruthlessly dumped in favor of a heads-down final push to complete the book. But I can't start that phase till she finishes. As I don't have it by now, I don't imagine I'll get anything till after the 4th of July holiday. I hope she gets back to me soon, as I don't want this project to run up against some family stuff and Worldcon at the end of the summer. I'd really like to be all done by the end of July. We'll see.
